Driver Vehicle Inspections: Complete Process

This course has been updated to include the current regulations as of 12/18/14, which require drivers to complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Drivers must complete a driver vehicle inspection report (DVIR) after a post-trip inspection when vehicle defect(s) are found. Drivers of passenger-carrying vehicles must complete a DVIR whether or not vehicle defect(s) are found. Show CMV drivers how to inspect their vehicles. Covers a standard procedure for doing each of three types of inspections: pre-, on-the-road, and post-trip.

Hours of Service: Driver Testing

Provides an overview of the FMCSA’s Hours of Service (HOS) rules that drivers must comply with, including a detailed look at how to comply with the HOS regulations and how to maintain an accurate record of duty status. The program discusses the purpose and importance of Hours of Service regulations and how to comply with the regs by managing time spent driving, on-duty, and off-duty, as well as maintaining a current, accurate record of duty status. It also explains how to apply Hours of Service regulations, including: daily 11-Hour Driving Limit, the 10-Hour Off-Duty Rule, the 14-Hour Duty Rule, and the Mandatory Break Provision; weekly 60-Hour/7-Day and 70-Hour/8-Day On-Duty Limits, and the 34-Hour Restart provision; and exceptions to the weekly and daily limits. NOTE: This program has been updated with information regarding the specific language within the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act of 2015, which suspends the July 1, 2013 provisions that were added in the 34-Hour Restart for property-carrying commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers and carriers.

Reasonable Suspicion Testing: What Supervisors Need to Know

Designed to help fully satisfy the reasonable suspicion training requirements under 49 CFR Part 382. Helps all persons designated to supervise Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) drivers gain confidence in regards to their reasonable suspicion testing responsibilities. Covers 30 minutes on the prohibitions and the reasonable suspicion process, 30 minutes on the effects of alcohol misuse, and 30 minutes on the effects of drug use. An additional 30 minutes of alcohol misuse and 30 minutes on drug use training are also provided for offline study to help fulfill the training requirements in 49 CFR Part 382.603.

Hazmat: General Awareness Training
